On Friday, October 6, the SKS eighth grade and four of their teachers traveled to Constitution Marsh after having studied the water cycle, the history of the Hudson Valley, and about the Hudson River Estuary.

 

 

Students visited the museum and learned what kinds of plants and animals they might see before venturing into the marshlands equipped with binoculars and their cameras. Walking along boardwalks, they watched for herons, bugs, and bald eagles, and formed hypotheses together about how the brackish water interacts with land and animals.

 

 

They finished the day with cooperative games and made plans to build a shelter behind Spy Rock House as part of SKS’ Outdoor Adventure program.
